What is Microsoft Copilot?

Microsoft Copilot is an AI-powered code completion tool created by GitHub in association with Open AI as of my most recent version in January 2022. It is based on the Generative Pre-trained Transformer (GPT) technology developed by OpenAI. With suggestions, code snippet autocompletions, and contextual support based on the code being written, Copilot is meant to help developers write code more quickly.

Microsoft Copilot effectively interacts into the developer's workflow and operates directly within code editors, including Visual Studio Code. It can propose choices for variable names and logic structures, complete function definitions, libraries and function documentation, and entire lines of code.

From the large quantity of code that is available on GitHub, Copilot learns, and it keeps getting better recommendations based on input from engineers. It seeks to facilitate developers' exploration of various solutions and programming patterns while accelerating the coding process and lowering errors.

It's crucial to remember that even while Microsoft Copilot can be a very effective tool for increasing productivity, developers should nevertheless check and comprehend the code it recommends in order to guarantee accuracy, effectiveness, and conformity to coding standards. Its utilization may also be subject to license and privacy issues, particularly for sensitive or proprietary applications.

How Can I Access/Open Microsoft Copilot?

  1. Go to Microsoft.com.

  2. If you have a Microsoft account click on the sign in button on the top right of your screen. But if you don’t have a Microsoft account click on the try for free button on the top right of your screen.

  4. Finally scroll down until you find Microsoft Copilot.

How to phrase the action that you what Copilot to complete?

To use copilot, you need to provide parameters such as “write with a professional tone and make it grammatically correct,” and then add the written information for Copilot to script using your parameters.
