What is the Apple’s Fitness Training Load?

Apple's Fitness Training Load is a metric designed to quantify the stress your workouts place on your body over time. It combines data from your Apple Watch, such as heart rate, workout duration, intensity, and recovery time, to provide an easy-to-understand score.

What is the time frame that this feature will be active?

The Apple Fitness Training Load feature is available with WatchOS 11, which was released in June 2024. This feature is designed to help you track and manage your workout intensity over time, providing insights into your 7-day and 28-day averages.

How to read the Training Load graph?

The Training Load graph on your Apple Watch helps you understand the intensity and duration of your workouts over time. Here’s how to read it:

  1. Open the Activity app on your Apple Watch.

  2. Tap the graph icon in the upper right corner.

  3. Turn the Digital Crown to view your training load over the last 7 days.

  4. Tap your training load below the graph to see details about individual workouts.

The graph compares your current week's training load to the previous 28 days. It classifies your current training load on a scale from "well below" to "well above," helping you understand the relative strain on your body.
